About Us
New Life Food Pantry began in a closet in the basement of St. George's Church with 2 shelves of food. Each week 5-6 people would stop in and pick up a bag of emergency food that had been donated by the church parishioners.
Through the generosity of donors and grantors, we have purchased and modified two shipping containers to serve as storage and distribution for our pantry. We are now able to accept larger quantites of food, including fresh produce for weekly distribution. We are currently serving between 90-100 families each week thanks to our dedicated staff of about 35 volunteers.

Our MissionThe Mission of the New Life Food Pantry is To provide food and other resources that improve the quality of life in our community
Our VisionWe have two major projects we are working towards. The first is to repave our parking lot. The safety of our patrons and staff is paramount and the current state of the pavement presents hazards, especially in poor weather. We are also looking to secure funding for a gazebo to protect our patrons from the elements while they wait for their turn in the pantry.

Beyond FoodIn addition to helping ANYONE IN NEED with food, we provide personal care items, drinks, health and nutrition products and occasionally household goods.
We offer free access to blood pressure checks, blood sugar monitoring, Cholesterol screening, and free flu shots through our partner agencies. We also bring in specialists, when available, to assist our patrons with insurance, housing, utility assistance and other emergency needs. |
Why we are hereThe experience here is unique.. We provide assistance for those who, in other social service areas, fall through the cracks. Even if they do not qualify for food stamps or utility assistance their needs can be met here.
Many times people don’t qualify for assistance because they “make too much” with their Social Security or because they own a home. But when they are left with making a choice between getting their medication and eating that day they won’t go hungry because we are here. When they need to choose between having heat in the winter and providing lunch for their children, they won’t have to choose – we are here. When they are rejected from other pantries because they live in a different town they don’t have to go hungry – we are here. We are pleased to offer a client-chice model for our distribution. This helps ensure our patrons are only getting the items they want and can use, cutting down on waste. |
